The third dissemination activity carried out within the scope of the “Awareness on Secondary Trauma After Earthquake (PASS)” Project was held on December 29 at Hasan Kalyoncu University.
The event, titled “Psychology Solutions – 17: From Theory to the Field: The PASS Project – Volunteering in the Disaster Area,” was organized by Dr. Saadet Öztürk, Dr. Canahmet Kaya, and Research Assistant Zeynep Kaya from the Hasan Kalyoncu University team, one of the project partners. Undergraduate and graduate students of Hasan Kalyoncu University showed great interest in the event.
Within the scope of the program, the implementation process of the PASS Project, the experiences gained throughout the project, and the field-related outputs were shared with the participants. The sessions also addressed the psychological, professional, and practical dimensions of volunteering in disaster areas.
During the event, the roles that psychologists and students studying in the field of psychology can undertake in post-disaster processes, the challenges that may be encountered in the field, and the importance of raising awareness of secondary trauma were emphasized. Participants had the opportunity to listen to the project team’s reflections on the individual and professional responsibilities of volunteering in disaster areas, based on their field experiences.
